Taking the SAT can be stressful, as it can determine your college acceptance and scholarship eligibility. SAT scores can be a determining factor between going to your safety school and going to the university of your dreams. SAT Format

The SAT is consists of three core sections – Math (80 minutes), Evidence-Based Reading (65 minutes), and Writing (35 minutes). There is an optional essay essay component (50 minutes). The total SAT testing time is 3 hours and 50 minutes. 

SAT Subject Tests are a great opportunity to stand out amongst the increasingly competitive college application process. You can demonstrate your academic strengths to colleges who use these scores to determine admissions, course placements, and even provide college-credit for intro courses.

You’re probably wondering if you should take the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, or ACT, a combination of the three, or all three for your college application. On top of that, you might be wondering how to study for these various exams. 

At Owly, our tutors are trained to help you decide which exam, or combination of exams, will look the best on your application and devise a program based on your time frame and goals.

ACT Format

The ACT measures your English, math, reading, and science capabilities along with a writing component.  The ACT is taken in 2 hours and 55 minutes, with an additional 40 minutes allotted for writing. The maximum score is 36, with the current average score of 21. 

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a graduate-level admissions exam that is used by universities and business schools to determine your admissions, among other criteria. Some graduate programs also require GRE Subject Test scores. The GRE is composed of three sections: Verbal, Math (Quantitive), and Analytical Writing. The exam designed to assess your college-level vocabulary and verbal reasoning; basic math concepts in arithmetic, algebra, and geometry; and your writing and analytical skills over the course of 3 hours and 45 minutes. 

The maximum score is out of 170, with an average score of 150.8. Many of our tutors are college professors with years of tutoring experience for the GRE General and Subject Exams. Contact us for information on our stellar GRE programs. 

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is designed to be a criterion for admissions into graduate management programs. Your GMAT score is pivotal for acceptance into competitive MBA programs. The GMAT is divided into three sections: Quantitive (Math), Analytic Writing, and Verbal. The GMAT is administered over the course of 3 hours and 30 minutes, with a maximum score of 800 and an average of 556. Each MBA program has various requirements for admissions, so make sure to research their requirements and understand what is expected of your application.
